The year is 2028 and in just two short years life has completely changed for 21-year-old Cole Bennett. His father, a renowned inventor and CEO of Bennett Industries, disappeared without a trace and is presumed dead. Between working two unfulfilling jobs, grueling aviation classes at Brume University, and trying to avoid getting evicted by his bullying landlord (who also happens to be his aunt), Cole yearns for a more stable life.

One day at work he finds a glowing pocket watch at the bottom of a trash can which leads him to a startling discovery: a message from his father! He's inexplicably been stranded in the Mesozoic Era and desperately needs Cole's help.

As Cole's investigation deepens, however, his boyfriend Gabe, along with several other men, go missing and Mechanica City is sent into a state of panic. Could the disappearances all be connected? Gabe was last seen at his workplace, the ominous new nightclub called Steamworks. With the help of his android maid, his flamboyant best friend, and his estranged older sister, Cole devises a plan to infiltrate the club and rescue him. What they discover will take them on an exhilarating journey through time aboard a mysterious train called The Astrolabe. Will Cole be able to save his boyfriend and father or will he lose everything in the process?

Senior year has finally arrived for 23-year-old Cole Bennett, but what is typically a time of joy and anticipation turns out to be quite different. He has to navigate disastrous job interviews, his boyfriend Gabe wants to take their relationship to the next level, and, if that wasn't stressful enough, his father starts dating a mysterious woman that he refuses to warm up to. Postgraduate life is quickly approaching, but Cole isn't ready.

Things take a turn for the worse after a terrorist group named Project Hominum arrives in Mechanica City and starts wreaking havoc. Their goal is simple -- rid the world of all mechanicals. A series of random attacks shakes the city to its core.

After traveling back in time and committing a brutal murder, Project Hominum alters the past and takes over Mechanica City. Cole's friend Karma, along with every mechanical in the world, suddenly ceases to exist. Cole, with the help of Gabe and his best friend Brody, uses The Astrolabe to travel to Victorian London to try and reverse the damage. Will he and his friends be able to fix the past, or will mechanicals be lost forever?

Mechanica City has descended into chaos. Even though Jaxon Mulgrave was defeated, Cole's home is still in dire straits. However, before he can think of a recovery plan, he and his friends and family are abducted by a glowing figure and taken to a bubble universe called Atmos.

The leader of Atmos, a mysterious being named Aloicius, orders Cole to return to the Mesozoic Era in order to close a tear in time that is threatening to destroy all of reality. A scroll provides additional instructions: "Save Bayard Rustin, Defeat Josephine's Cheetah, Stop Richard Lawrence, Return Samuel Adams."

After Ruby and Karma leave the group to track down the villainous Gustav Fallowback, Cole, Gabe, and a reluctant Brody jump on The Astrolabe to begin their journey. Will they be able to complete the mission before time runs out, or will the entire universe disappear?
